Junior School Co-curricular
Radford's Co-curricular Program is elective and offered outside of school hours. We have developed activities that are challenging and fun and that enable children to gain skills and make new friends. Our Co-curricular Program provides students with opportunities to identify new interests, work towards goals, develop a growth mindset and to be a part of the broader Radford community.
Sport
From Kindergarten to Year 2, students are encouraged to participate in a Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) program. From Year 3, coaching and competition is offered in athletics, basketball, cricket, equestrian, football, futsal, golf, netball, oztag, rowing, rugby, snowsports, tennis and water polo.
Co-curricular music groups
The Radford Music Program is highly regarded and an excellent way to broaden students' education. Junior School students have the opportunity to join an instrumental and/or voice ensemble. Here, they can learn about music in a social atmosphere and contribute to the school community.
Individual music tuition
Radford provides private music lessons which are held on a weekly basis with a visiting specialist music tutor. They teach students to read music, build fluency and develop individual expression. Individual music tuition helps students to learn the practical side of music, carried on from the understanding they gain in the classroom.
Lessons are arranged between the instrumental music tutors and parents. Most lessons will take place during class time, on a fortnightly rotating basis for Years 1–4 and termly rotation for Years 5–10, to lessen the impact on class subjects.
Performing arts
Years 1–6 students are given varying opportunities to be involved in dance, drama and musical performances.
Other co-curricular activities in the Junior School
