Introducing EV Charging Stations

By Mr Andy Gordon, Interim Principal

In a giant leap for sustainability, Radford College has introduced two electric vehicle charging stations on campus. Each station has two charging points, allowing a total of four electric vehicles to charge simultaneously.

This is a first for a school in Canberra and is in line with the College’s SEMP (School Environmental Management Plan) and ACT’s Zero Emissions Vehicle Strategy.

The sign-posted charging stations are located in the main staff car park, on the left as you enter from Haydon Drive. They can be used by all the community, including on weekends and during evening events.

Parking in the clearly marked charging spots is allowed while the vehicle is charging, and the school is relying on the goodwill of the community to ensure the success of this project.

The charging stations can be used by Radford College staff, students and parents by downloading the Exploren app on a mobile device.

This is an exciting undertaking and Radford College’s contribution to making Canberra greener. The College will now investigate the possibility of purchasing electric vehicles for its own fleet in the future.
