Radford Wins ACT Kids' Lit Quiz
By Mali Jorm, Teacher Librarian
Radford College students have been reading up a storm in preparation for the ACT heat of the Kids’ Lit Quiz on Wednesday, 24 May.
The Kids’ Lit Quiz is an international competition featuring challenging questions on an extensive selection of literary topics. Students compete collaboratively in teams of four to answer questions in ten themed rounds.
Radford fielded six teams, three from Year 5/6 and three from Year 7/8. The Junior School teams performed very strongly and even beat our Secondary School teams on several rounds.
The Secondary School teams equally achieved some outstanding round scores, and each of the three teams were round champions, winning a book prize of their choice. They were all sitting near the top of the leader board for most of the day, and the pressure was on in the final few rounds.
We are delighted to announce that Radford College was the ACT heat winner of Kids’ Lit Quiz and will now move onto the nationals in Sydney.
Please congratulate our winning team of Owen Henderson, Lucinda Harrison, Thenuki Weerabaddana Dissanayake and Xander Barber.
A big thank you to Junior School Teacher Librarian Gemma Wilson, who has been coaching our teams for many years and gives all the Junior School students a deep appreciation of diverse literature that they build on throughout their education at Radford.
