Sports Report Term 3, Week 4

Rugby 7s Finals

During Week 3, both the Year 11/12 Girls and Boys Rugby 7s teams competed at the ACT and Southern NSW Rugby 7s Finals at Southwell Park.

The Radford Year 11/12 boys were undefeated throughout the day, scoring a plethora of tries and proving their formidable defence in stopping their opposition. Huge congratulations to the Year 11/12 Boys for being crowned the ACT and Southern NSW Champions!

The Year 11/12 Girls represented the College with grit and determination. Well done girls on finishing in 3rd place at the regional finals!

ASC Netball

On Tuesday 6 August, Radford netballers represented the College at the ASC Netball Championships. Competing in the Years 7/8, Years 9/10 and Years 11/12 divisions, each team showed their class and skill against quality opponents. All teams had some fantastic wins during the day.

Congratulations to the Radford Years 9/10 team for finishing in 3rd place — Radford’s best ever result at ASC Netball!

Futsal

Weeks 2 and 3 saw the Years 5/6, Years 9/10 and Years 11/12 Capital Football School Futsal Cup gala days with all students representing Radford proudly. The Years 9/10 Boys and Girls team made it to the semi-finals, and the Year 6 Boys team were unfortunately defeated in their Grand Final after playing beautiful Futsal throughout the day. Special mention to the Year 5 Boys team who fought hard to draw level in their quarter-final after being down 3-0 at half time. Unfortunately, the much more physically stronger opposition took out the game 4 –3 in the last minute.

Sporting Achievements

Congratulations to the following Radford College student who have gained selection in a 2024 SSACT representative team:

Charlie Dunn (Year 7, Jarrah) – 12&U Football (Soccer) Boys Team

Football

Isaac Waldren (Year 9, Wandoo) represented Capital Football at the Football Australia U15 Boys National Youth Championships in Wollongong during the July school holidays, testing himself against the best players from around the nation. A highlight for the team was a 1–1 draw against a NSW Metro White team on Day 3.
